HEADPHONE AMPLIFIERS

Sure, you don't need a headphone amplifier to listen to your headphones. Just plug them in the headphone jack of a CD-player or integrated amplifier and you will be able to enjoy your music. Unfortunately though the headphone outputs on most of these devices are merely low priority afterthoughts and are made using the cheapest components. They sound accordingly.
And even the sound quality of portable players, specifically designed to drive headphones, is far from optimal as their driving capacities are strongly restricted by the low supply voltage of the batteries.
Therefore, if you like to hear your phones in their full glory then it's almost inevitable that you buy a decent designated headphone amplifier.

The CORDA amplifiers found in the list below are designed to provide a maximum of sound quality for as little as money as possible. The aluminium enclosures are very sturdy build. No gimmicks that would increase price but don't add anything to the sound. However, no money was saved on the electronic components. Inside only parts of the highest quality are found. CORDA amplifiers have a detailed and clean sound, high driving capacities and a proprietary crossfeed filter (except for the HEADSIX and the XXS) that makes headphone listening more relaxed and natural. In our opinion they simply represent excellent value for the money and you will have a very hard job to find better sounding amplifiers for the same money, if any at all. SENNHEISER HD-800

A few years ago we decided to concentrate our sales on our own amplifiers and stopped selling headphones. However, this new HD-800 is such an outstanding device that we readily make an exception. This phone is available in our demonstration room and we invite everybody to take a listen. Please do not hesitate to contact us when interested in this state-of-the-art monitor.

CORDA HEADSIX black

The CORDA HEADSIX is essentially the same amp as the XXS. However, this model is a low-profit project and for every amplifier sold $15,- will be donated to Head-Fi, the home-base of the internet-headphone-society. CORDA XXS silver

The XXS is our smallest amplifier but it has a big sound. Due to the 9V power it has driving capacities that by far succeed those of portable players and thus clearly improves on sound quality.

The CORDA 3MOVE is a small portable headphone amplifier that has the additional benefit of a crossfeed filter which makes headphone listening more natural and relaxing.

CORDA SWING silver

The CORDA SWING is our budget stationary amp. However, do not underestimate this amp for its plain appearance and its low price. Inside high-quality audiophile parts are used and this amp offers a fine sound with excellent pacing an rhythm. This one will make you tap your feet.
Of course this amp also has a crossfeed filter as well as a gain-switch to accommodate the use of high sensitive headphones.

The SYMPHONY is the best headphone amplifier we ever made. Of course it also uses the concept of active balanced headphone ground with which each headphone connection wire carries an additional signal such that the sum of the potentials of the wires equals zero. Active balanced headphone ground offers most of the advantages of a true balanced headphone setup without the need of balanced connections.
An extra feature of the SYMPHONY is a high quality built-in DAC, based on the newest top-of-the-line Wolfson WM8741. Digital data are accepted through optical or coaxial S/PDIF inputs or through the USB-port that can be easily connected to any computersystem. Never did your PC sound that good!

The STAGEDAC is a state-of-the-art Digital-to-Analog converter with integrated crossfeed and volume controlled outputs. It offers a maximum of sound quality for as little as money as possible.
Despite its slim appearance inside two top-of-the-line Wolfson D/A converter chips in dual-mono mode and many other very high-quality components are found that are exemplary for this price-class.
A unique feature of the STAGEDAC is the built-in extended natural crossfeed-filter. It not only allows to improve soundstage during headphone listening but also has a loudspeaker-mode in which it is possible to widen the soundstage beyond the boundaries posed by the positions of the loudspeakers.
